Let's hike on the Madrona Marsh Preserve listening for birds, looking for frogs and learning about nature. Outdoor event.
2nd Thursday of Every Month
10:30 am - Noon
For ages 3-5 years, accompanied by an adult.
Your child can discover the wonders of Madrona Marsh and the importance of nature through stories, science activities, games, and crafts.
Registration required. Limited to 15 participants. Call 310-782-3989 to register. Held inside the Nature Center.
Every Friday, 10 am - Noon
For ages 3-6 years, with their parent or guardian.
No Charge
Hands-on program: storytime, science, art, and a tour of the Preserve. 1st hour inside the Nature Center; 2nd hour in the Preserve. Some weeks there will also be potting or other activities. Emphasis on respect for all living things and being good stewards of the planet.
Registration required. Limited to 15 participants. Call (310) 782-3989 Tuesday - Thursday, 10 am - 5 pm to register. If you can not keep your reservation, call to cancel to allow another family to take your spot.
For example... Did you know that Pacific Tree Frogs have different colors depending on what habitat they reside in? Pacific Tree Frogs can change their skin color at will depending on the surrounding temperatures, light, mood, and humidity. Pacifc Tree Frogs have been known to range in colors including bright green, cream, tannish brown, reddish brown, dark green, and even yellow!
The Exhibit Hall snake skin sheddings and real raccoon, possum, squirrel furs that you can touch. There are always science projects going on at the Nature Center that anyone can participate in. Ask your parents or guardians to call or bring you to the Madrona Marsh Nature Center or to the Madrona Marsh Preserve and hike with us!
